The Carshalton Cheerleaders were formed in the Spring of 1993. Among their first appearances
were the Sutton Christmas Parade, a Half Time Show at Wembley Stadium for the NFL American Bowl,
and a McDonalds television commercial. They also took part in WCA cheerleading training Camps
hosted by the British Cheerleading Association, and performed and held their own workshops at
the Sutton Day of Dance at Westcroft Leisure Centre.
Their ties with the community grew stronger as they developed a larger repertoire and practised
stunting skills. They appeared in the Carshalton Carnival and Parade after which invitations
began to arrive to perform at various charitable and private events, including the Red Cross 125th
Anniversary Party on Oxford Street on V.E. Day and a Channel 4 Road show at Chessington World
of Adventures.
In September 1995 the Carshalton Cheerleaders were invited to bring their own special brand of
enthusiasm to Crystal Palace Football Club, and became the Palace Crystals. The Club was looking for
a way to promote a family atmosphere at the pitch and the girls were delighted to oblige at the
Saturday home matches. They are particularly keen to get the fans cheering and demonstrate real
support for their Team!
The Palace Crystals have participated in the BCA British Cheerleading Championships for four
years and in 1998 became the British Senior Cheerleading Champions. They are now fully committed
to increasing their training for international competition and to continue to delight the crowds
at Crystal Palace Football Club, as well as major sporting events throughout the South East. They
are hoping to find sponsors to help their programme. We can offer a high profile, very active and
fit group of athletic young ladies for major events and display performances.
