BASIC REQUIREMENTS

FOR FORMING A NEW SQUAD OR CLUB

If you are considering starting a new cheerleading squad or club the following basic principles are mandatory for legal and/or insurance purposes.
All existing squads/clubs must also be managed on the same basis


Safety First   The club must be run by one or more responsible adults, including supervision of all sessions and activities.

Safety First   All coaches staff and voluntary helpers with unsupervised access to children and young people must be cleared by the Criminal Records Bureau.

Safety First   Unless you are operating on a professional basis your club must have a suitable constitution to define roles responsibilities and accountability.

Safety First   Public Liability insurance cover is mandatory.   Personal Accident cover for all staff and cheerleaders is strongly recommended.

Safety First   Coaches must have relevant cheerleading qualifications, as approved by the BCA.   Where the coach(es) do not yet have such qualifications they should plan to take them as soon as practical, and do not attempt to coach stunting or cheer gymnastics unless taught how to do so safely.
