CHEER TECHNIQUE AND YOUR SQUAD
CHEER TECHNIQUE has laid down the foundations of cheerleading in the format of a teaching syllabus. The very basics of cheerleading from the strong angular arm motions to the development of explosive jumps are all there. Cheer coaches can use the suggested work in the syllabus to introduce cheerleading to beginners of any age. The examination process is a useful tool in setting goals for cheerleaders on their home turf, and keeping parents informed of the cheerleaders' progress. Cheer Technique can help you to set up a growing Cheer Squad, and as a coach with recognised and esteemed qualifications you can begin to earn an income from your hard work and valuable experience. Cheerleaders can enter the examination process at any skill level and progress to the highest standard. Young assistants can begin their coaching qualification-exams at Student level from as young as 16 years old. The development of the CHEER TECHNIQUE syllabus through the International Dance Teacher's Association (IDTA) has given cheerleading the benefit of highly experienced administrators and examiners. With this partnership, qualified cheer coaches can have more confidence in their own insurance protection. The Cheer Technique qualification is also recognised as a standard bearer for coaches wishing to bring cheerleading to leisure centres and schools. The authors of the CHEER TECHNIQUE syllabus, Jean Eve & Lynda Blyth-Phillips would love to discuss the various ways the syllabus work has been incorporated into their teams' training. Competition work and local performances can all work hand-in-hand with the examination process. It has been our experience that support from parents has increased due to the inclusion of exams in our busy schedules. Ask us how it has provided a new source of income to our older teenagers, postponing the departure of these older girls to outside jobs.
Cheer Technique is the first syllabus of cheerleading; the first time that a structured system of cheer skills has been defined, a progression outlined and methods of assessment established. This standard is endorsed by the British Cheerleading Association and administered by the International Dance Teachers Association. The levels of professional qualifications begin with Assistant Cheer Coach (Student) and progress through coaching levels of Associate and Membership. The amateur syllabus begins with Rosettes for 3 -8 year olds and continue with ever higher standards for the higher age groups. Cheer Technique offers seminars for both cheerleaders and coaches / teachers. Please call and express your interest in the next seminar whether for qualifications, or for cheerleader workshops.
