    GENERAL

Q:  What is the purpose of Cheerleading?

A:  To encourage the principle of being proud of who you are and where you come from, to generate spirit and pride within a school or community.

Q:   What does Cheerleading involve ?
A:  Cheerleading involves Cheers, Chants, Dance, Tumbling, Gymnastics, Jumps, Partner Stunts and Pyramid Building.  Accepted as a competitve athletic discipline in it's own right in many counties it goes far beyond entertaining at ball games. Cheerleaders must be able to lead cheers, synchonising and motivating large crowds with personality, spirit, positive attitudes and be role model examples of good sportsmanship and behaviour. They must also be knowledgable P.R. represesentatives and be able to communicate with young and old alike. Competitions, Parades, Carnivals, plus charity and community events are all part of their schedule.   See our Did You Know page for interesting stats and facts..

Q:  What age do I have to be for Cheerleading ?
A:  There is no specific age, so long as you are fit and healthy. We have cheerleaders as young as five, and mums with three children.

Q:  Is there a club near me?
A: Check out Location of Squads in Britain for your closest club.   E-mail BCA for contact information at . We do not publish member data on line.

    Q:  How can I start a club?
A: Please check out our 'Starting A Squad? section online for basic info and links about starting a club.

Q:  How can I get qualifications as a coach?

Q:  How can I get cheerleading insurance?
A: Please see our insurance information page.

Q:  How can I find out more, or get involved ?
A: Contact BCA and we will be pleased to assist. About

Q:  How can I join ?  How much does it cost ?   What would I get ?
A:  If you are a squad based in the UK just print out and fill in the Membership Registration Form, or e-mail us a request for an Information Pack.
Although BCA's services have been provided free of charge for many years an annual fee of 25 per Club was intoduced due to rapidly rising membership escalating our admin and magazine publishing costs. For full information of our programme and membership package benefits see our About BCA and Actions Speak Louder pages.

Q:  Do you sell ...,  hire out ...,  have staff vacancies ... ?
A:  We do not sell merchandising or other services, nor do we hire paid instructional staff.   We do not 'hire' out squads to commercial companies but would be pleased to put you in touch with local cheerleaders who may be glad of the opportunity to earn a donation to their squad funds.

Q: Can we get copies of your magazine ?
A:  Although our magazine is distributed to member squads and sports organisations we are unable to mail free copies all over the world on request - BCA is a non-commercial voluntary organistion.  However, you can read most of its content free on the internet.   See Cheer Leader magazine web site.
