What is Positive Vetting?
Positive vetting is a process in which coaches staff and voluntary helpers with substantial access to children and young people are cleared by the appropriate authorities, in this case the Criminal Records Bureau. Clearance is effected by establishing identity and checked by the CRB against Police, Department of Health, and Department of Education records.
|
Who will be checked?
Adult cheerleading staff with substantial access to children or young people.
This would usually mean head coaches, plus any adult assistant coaches and helpers who may be in unsupervised control and responsible for cheerleaders. Where an assistant coach or helper is only ever conducting their duties under the direct supervision of cleared staff then clearance is not required. However, un-cleared staff must never be left in sole responsible charge of cheerleaders who are not their own children.

I DO NOT HAVE CRB CLEARANCE
|
- Telephone the Criminal Records Bureau on Freephone 0870 90 90 822
- Say you wish to apply for Enhanced Disclosure as a voluntary coach or club welfare officer.
- State you wish to register with the British Cheerleading Association. (BCA is a Registered Body with the CRB)
- You will be required to quote the organisation registration number, supplied with your Child Protection Policy booklet.
- They will take most of your details by telephone to part complete your form for you.
- The partly completed form will be mailed to you, which you will then complete, except for sections “X“ & “Y“.
- Note: You do not have to fill in Section “E” (References) or Section “F” (Bank information).
- CRB cleared BCA Countersignatories will check your original documents and document references on the form, and sign your form as checked by BCA. For many this can be effected easily if you are coming to Loughborough. Bring a new photo for your ID.
- BCA will then sign and return your form to the CRB for them to validate your status. Your documents do not go to the CRB, we have checked them.
- The CRB will issue clearance certificates to you & BCA, or notify both parties if a problem is found. BCA would then make a decision with guidance from the appropriate authorities.
- BCA will then issue you with your new style Coaches Register ID Card with ticked child protection symbol.
- Note: Allow 4 to 5 weeks for CRB processing

I ALREADY HAVE CRB CLEARANCE THROUGH AN APPROVED BODY

I CANNOT GET TO THE NEXT BCA EVENT
|
- Bring your forms and original documents to any BCA event, or mail them by recorded delivery to BCA. We will mail your documents back by recorded delivery.
|
I AM NOT ON THE NATIONAL COACHES REGISTER
|
- Free processing only applies to existing registered coaches and staff. New coaches must register with BCA as usual, then CRB processing remains no extra charge
- If you are not working in cheerleading on a voluntary basis, and have not obtained clearance through a professional body, please contact BCA as the CRB make an additional charge of £36 on us for non-voluntary (professional) staff.
